OGC HDWG (Hydrology Domain Working Group) annual workshop from 20-24 September 2015

Right after the OGC TC (Technical Committee) held in Nottingham the week before, the BRGM and the INSIDE cluster were proud to welcome the expert group of the OGC HydroDWG (Hydrology Domain Working Group), from 20 to 23 September 2015 in Orléans.

To the agenda: an annual working session for international experts coming from very heterogeneous domains to share their experiences and works in progress on defining and applying OGC standards to the water domain (data sharing, modelisation...).

On september 23rd 2015, the meeting came up with a text called "Orléans resolution", which conclude to:

The WMO (World Meteorological Organisation) Commission for Hydrology recognizes that standards prepared by the Hydro Domain working group are mature enough to be implemented within the WMO Hydrological Observing System (WHOS).

The Hydrology Domain Working Group recommends establishment of a WHOS portal to provide access to OGC standard - conformant water data services provided by National Hydrological Services.

In the continuation of that rich workshop, HDWG members attended the 6th RDA (Research Data Alliance) conference, Research Data for Climate Change in Paris, especially to the session « Improve sharing of water resources Data globally », presented by the BRGM, on september 24th, 2015. The great interest that emerged from that session ended up with the creation of a Water Data Interest Group in the RDA.
